One of three young men involved in a fatal shooting in La Crosse last May is considered too much of a flight risk to get lower bail.

A La Crosse judge who reduced the bail for Jackson Greengrass from $75,000 cash to just $20,000 has turned down a defense request to drop the bond to $10,000.

The 18-year-old Greengrass was shot and wounded, and 15-year-old Storm Vondrashek was killed in a shooting outside a La Crosse apartment building on May 22nd.  Greengrass is accused of planning to kill Sage Hicke, the teen charged with shooting him and Vondrashek.

Defense attorney Bernardo Cueto argued that Greengrass his can’t raise $20,000 to get out of the La Crosse County jail, but could get $10,000.

Judge Gloria Doyle turned down the request for a lower bond, agreeing with prosecutor Jessica Skemp that Greengrass has fled in the past after being let out of jail.  No trial date has been set for Greengrass. Hicke is to be tried for murder in July.
