La Crosse board accepts $312K bid for first part of Kids Coulee renewal

Funding for the first phase of the Kids Coulee renovation was approved Monday by the La Crosse Board of Public Works.

Kirchner Custom Builders submitted the low bid for the initial work to evaluate what needs to be improved on the playground area, built at Myrick Park in the 1990s.

The Kirchner bid was $312,425, with the next closest coming in at $421,122.

Four contractors in all submitted bids, going as high as nearly $600,000.

Phase 1 includes evaluating what changes could be made to the nearly 30-year-old play area at Myrick Park. Separate bidding will be done for Phase 2 of the project, which will include construction of new slides and climbing structures.
