Repeat drunk-driver arrested for OWI, allegedly after his first drink in a decade
A La Crosse man, who claimed he had been sober for 10 years and one day, is facing a possible 10 years in prison for allegedly driving drunk this week.
Anthony Guzman was stopped on Monday after nearly colliding with a city police officer at the intersection of 5th and Cass streets.
The 61-year-old admitted he had been drinking after being sober for 10 years, and claimed he had consumed alcohol at 3 a.m. The arrest occurred more than 12 hours after that.
Guzman has five alcohol-related convictions on his record, with the last one dating back to 2012.
