The 8 year old went on a walk with her sisters in the woods on their property in the town of Sterling, separated, then she got lost trying to get home. After she had been missing an hour, a call was made around 10 a.m.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office says she was quickly found once “crews” arrived on the scene.

Responding to the call included the sheriff’s office, Wheatland Fire, Wheatland First Responders, Vernon County Emergency Management, Geona’s fire department, Viroqua fire department, and Neil Funk, a civilian K9 handler, with his bloodhound “Wrigley.”

Sheriff John Spears thanked those who assisted, noting the temperature was nearly 90 degrees.
