Wesley Dollar of Boscobel pleaded not guilty Tuesday in court to recklessly endangering safety, for allegedly firing a shot into the wall of a house on Cliffview Drive back on Dec. 18.

La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office investigator John Williams said a woman was in the kitchen and injured from shrapnel resulting from the gunshot.

“The victim was cooking, and there was a shot fired through the west wall of the front window,” Williams told the court, “and basically traveled through the kitchen and through another wall and a stairwell, lodging in a separate stairwell.”

Williams said Dollar admitted to trying to scare two other people associated with the victim.

“He didn’t appreciate the comments they were making about him, being a ‘chomo,’” Williams said, referring to an apparent slang term for a child molester, “and that they had stolen his drug users and he couldn’t … sell to them anymore.”

Video from the neighborhood showed a Ford Ranger driving near the house around the time of the shooting. That truck was traced to Dollar, along with weapons and ammo matching the bullet that was fired.

Dollar told police he was aiming for a window on the wall of the house.
