Two people from Milwaukee have now been convicted for their roles in the murder of a Sparta man in the summer of 2020.

Michael Hartmann was found guilty of killing Anthony Koopman, during a Monroe County trial last week. Hartmann is scheduled to be sentenced in February.

Koopman was shot outside his house in June of last year, after allegedly trying to buy drugs from Hartmann.

Police say two other people had arrived at the house with Hartmann. Damara Skenandore-Medina reached a plea agreement on drug charges, and on Friday she was sentenced to 3 years in prison for aiding a felon and possessing drugs. The third suspect, Eric Borges, is scheduled to be tried for murder in April.

Hartmann’s trial lasted about a week. Hartmann reportedly tried to rob Koopman outside his house in Sparta, while Koopman was attempting to buy drugs.

Investigators said Hartmann shot and killed Koopman when he tried to run away.
