Nine days hitting 90 in La Crosse, but that may be it for now
La Crosse’s heat wave reaches nine days in a row on Friday, but cooler weather is expected for Saturday.
The National Weather Service says the mercury has gotten to 90 degrees or higher every day since June 3rd, for the longest streak of 90-plus weather since July of last year. That streak also lasted nine days, from June 30th to July 8th.
The all-time longest period of 90-degree days for La Crosse was the infamous 1936 heat wave of 14 days, when several record highs were set that still stand today.
We are supposed to get a bit of a break Saturday, with a high in the mid 80s before temps climb above 90 again on Sunday.
