A cash bond of $10,000 has been set for a La Crosse man accused of stealing his former girlfriend’s dog, and physically abusing the woman.

Dominique Boyland faces 13 criminal counts, ranging from theft to battery and resisting arrest.  The charges cover a series of events this month, including repeated attacks on the victim.

During one of those incidents, Boyland allegedly tried to reach inside the woman’s car while she was driving away, and he was hanging on through the open window for two or three blocks.

Police say Boyland took the victim’s 8-year-old Yorkie mix, and threatened to harm the dog unless the woman followed instructions from Boyland.  The dog was recovered safely by police.
