It is expected to be the final word on the 2020 election in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Elections Commission has released its analysis of the data from the November election, and will discuss the report at its meeting later this week. It confirms what we have already heard; that despite the pandemic and the challenges it presented to voters, people turned out to vote in record numbers and there were very few problems reported statewide. Of course, some still refuse to believe that. You can read the entire report on the commission’s website, at https://elections.wi.gov. It shows that nearly 3.3 million Wisconsin residents cast a ballot. Voter registration climbed nearly 12%. Clerks in nearly every Wisconsin town, village and city processed more absentee returns than ever before, nearly 2 million statewide. Wisconsin voters were clearly eager to check the status of their ballot, as the new ballot tracking system MyVote Wisconsin was visited more than 1.5 million times. The report finds there is room for improvement, mainly in educating voters about how absentee voting works and how the commission ensures the integrity of the vote. The report also praises clerks, poll workers and voters for helping the 2020 election run smoothly. If you still have questions about how the election was conducted, it is worth a glance at this report, the final word on our long election season.
