Last sweep for leaves in La Crosse starting soon

It’s been a good season for sweeping leaves in La Crosse, and the leaf collection could end by next week.

The city refuse and recycling department says a final sweep of the city will start on the north side in the next few days, and progress to the south side.

Several leaf drop-off sites in the city will remain open until further notice.

Extra city workers were assigned leaf duty last fall, to avoid a problem from 2018 when ice and snow stopped the collection before it was finished.

This November, there has been no measurable snow in La Crosse through the 22nd.

Starting Monday, city crews plan to finish some areas that are still ‘in progress.’

The drop-off sites include Myrick Park, West Copeland Park, and Isle La Plume.
