Former La Crosse area Assemblyman accused of pro-utility bias while on government commission
Former La Crosse County Assemblyman Mike Huebsch is under fire for seeking a job with Dairyland Power, after voting on Dairyland projects while sitting on the state’s Public Service Commission (PSC).
The Wisconsin State Journal reported that Huebsch applied to become CEO of Dairyland, based in La Crosse, shortly after voting on the PSC in favor of two large energy projects involving the company.
Huebsch resigned from the PSC this year, before his term on the commission was finished.
Before serving with the commission, Huebsch was a 94th District Assemblyman and worked as secretary of administration under Gov. Scott Walker.
Opponents of the Cardinal-Hickory Creek power line and a $700 million natural gas plant say Huebsch was biased when he approved both projects while serving on the commission.
Two other ex-lawmakers from the area now work at Dairyland — former Senators Brian Rude and Jennifer Shilling.
