The offer of free dairy food led to long lines of cars through the Valley View Mall parking lot on Saturday.
Drivers were lined up to the south entrance of the mall around the time that the Hunger Task Force distribution began at 10 a.m.
Rotary Lights in La Crosse called it the largest dairy giveaway in the history of Western Wisconsin with just under 2,000 boxes of dairy products to hand out.
Each box included 2 gallons of 2% milk, along with jugs of strawberry and chocolate milk, and containers of cream cheese, sour cream, and French onion dip.
The boxes were handed out to drivers outside the former Macy’s store at Valley View, with scheduled hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
