Winona County is still preparing charges against a 79-year-old man from Dakota who admits to killing his wife and attempting suicide.

Joseph Wright has not had a Winona County court appearance since the death of his wife last Friday.

He was treated at a La Crosse hospital for apparently cutting his own wrist, and then went to jail briefly before agreeing to be sent back to Minnesota.

Officers were dispatched to the Wright home, after Wright called 9-1-1 to say he had killed his wife.
