COVID-themed art still being sought by La Crosse arts board
La Crosse’s city arts board is making more plans to commission two-dimensional works of art commemorating the COVID pandemic.
The board is accepting proposals from artists, with a tentative deadline of next Wednesday, July 15th.
Board members have been looking for funding which would be available to artists.
The project might also be expanded to include works of art dealing with racism, following the protests after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

In addition, as the La Crosse Center is going through an expansion project, the city of La Crosse is identifying areas of the center where works of art could be displayed.
The arts board has identified rooms, hallways, and other locations at the civic center for items made by local artists.
While some art could go into meeting rooms now being built at the center, others could be posted in lobbies and walkways, and statues could be placed outside entrances to the building.
