Spring clean-up! La Crosse offers large item recycling collection

Birds chirping and flowers blooming are not the only signs of spring.

The City of La Crosse says it will start spring clean-up with large item collections May 11-22.

There will be one collection day per dwelling on residents’ regular recycling day. Items should be placed at the designated refuse and recycling collection point but cannot be set out more than 12 hours before collection. The property owner is responsible for the removal of extra items left out once the pickup is complete.

According to the Refuse and Recycling Department, each collection is limited to five items per tax parcel. Electronics and appliances are not being collected, and items cannot weigh more than 300 pounds.

Mattresses and box springs should be kept separate from other large items because they will be picked up by a different truck and recycled. The city asked residents to cover mattresses if rain is in the forecast.
