La Crosse Center events cancelling because of virus

This is “not going to be a good year” financially for the La Crosse Center. 

That’s what center board president Brent Smith told other board members Monday, as the shutdown over the coronavirus leads to many 2020 events being called off. 

Center manager Art Fahey says plenty of activities have been taken off the calendar.  

Business was going to be down anyway for 2020, because of the $42 million remodeling happening at the civic center. 

However, Fahey says the number of meetings planned for 2021 looks promising.  

The demolition of the old North Hall was completed last week, a few days ahead of schedule, and   the old seats inside the main arena are set to be removed and replaced, beginning in May.
