Seven days into 2020 and many are trying to keep their New Year’s Resolutions intact.

Have you been to the gym yet this year?

If you have, you might have found it difficult to find an open treadmill or weight machine.

Heidi Kuennen, Wellness Director at the Dahl Family YMCA in La Crosse can notice the difference.

“We’re definitely seeing an increase with people coming in,” Kuennen said. “We take a look at ourselves and figure out what we want to change in 2020.”

Kuennen says if you haven’t made it to the YMCA, staff assists you in finding what would work best for you.

“We have a conversation right away about what’s going to work for them,” Kuennen said. “We give tours and orientation, and we always have the facilities staffed as well.”

When starting a new training program, she advises not to be over the top with your goals.

“Be realistic in what’s actually achievable,” Kuennen said. “Take that big goal and break it apart so you can chew on it better.”
