Life in prison without hope of parole awaits an Iowa man found guilty of killing his wife.

Brian Fullhart of Cresco was convicted of first-degree murder Thursday by a Howard County jury.

The defense had argued for second-degree murder, claiming that Fullhart was not competent when he shot his wife Zoanne last year at their mobile home.

Fullhart reportedly had threatened to kill Zoanne if she ever divorced him.

He surrendered to police after a five-hour standoff following the shooting, during which he used a bow to fire arrows at officers.

Fullhart testified that he intended to kill his wife, but he also claimed that his friends were telling him that Zoanne was cheating on him.
