Some public artworks could be repaired and moved soon
Fix them, and move them?
That could be the formula for improving some public works of art in La Crosse which are a bit weather-beaten.
Members of the city arts board are discussing repairs to the Dancers sculpture in the Pump House parking lot and the Lyra piece in Burns Park on Main Street.
Both are made of metal and need new coats of paint.
The Dancers could be moved within the next couple of months, to make more room for the June Artspire festival at the Pump House.
New display sites outside of the Weber Center on Front Street are being considered.
There’s also talk of moving Lyra to a different park.
The large sculpture used to stand inside Valley View Mall.
