Architect attend library planning meetings in La Crosse
The La Crosse Center isn’t the only city-run building in town that could get a makeover soon.
Two branches of the La Crosse Public Library are targeted for remodeling, and users of the library are talking about the proposed changes at listening sessions.
Library director Kelly Krieg Sigman said the projects at the Main Street building and the south branch on 16th Street are up for discussion at these meetings, which began Monday and concludes at 10 a.m. today.
That meeting will be held at the south branch and will mainly deal with plans to combine that library with the south-side senior center.
The Minneapolis architectural firm MSR is leading the citizen discussions.
Design team member Dagmara Larson from MSR complimented the look of the main library, saying it has “good bones.”
Larson also said the half-century-old library on Main Street has “gotten a little tired.”
