The La Crosse County sheriff's office teams with meal delivery crews to collect old drugs from households getting noon lunch service

If older residents of La Crosse County want to dispose of prescription drugs, but they can’t get to designated ‘drop boxes,’ the county can come to them.

The sheriff’s department has teamed up with the Aging and Disability Resource Center to collect unused medicine from households where noon meals are delivered.

Sheriff Jeff Wolf helped kick off the collection program on Thursday, as a delivery team picked up meals at Sand Lake School in Holmen for customers in Brice Prairie.

The people who deliver meals also are collecting needles and other medical items.

Collections also have been started in West Salem.
