The biggest annual conference begins today at the La Crosse Center and there will be a party you won’t want to miss.

The four-day MOSES Organic Farming Conference is mostly put on for those serious about dirt, produce, livestock and feed but tonight is the night it’s for everyone.

A special $25 ticket will get folks in tonight who are more the backyard gardeners that still want to see what all the fuss is about.

That ticket will be good from 5-8 p.m., as well as the party afterward, where organic drinks will be made and organic music will be played.

We brought back a band of organic farmers, they’re called the Organic Pheromones,” Audrey Alwell, MOSES communications director, said with a laugh. “It’s a rockabilly, they call it. If you’re familiar with that, it’s a pretty fun group.”

She went on to mention “really cheap prairie vodka, cocktails, polk cider and hard cider at a special rate, because organic farmers understand what’s a good deal.”

This is the 30th year of MOSES. Expected are over 3,000 people to check out the 175 vendors, along with keynote speakers, farming workshops and more.

“We’re trying to do some callbacks to the previous conferences, looking back at our history a bit and also looking forward,” Alwell said.

Hoch cider, not Polk. From Hoch orchard in LaCrescent, MN – the conference does a great job sourcing local food & libations!

Hello, there is another MOSES. There is Words of Wisdom. MOSES, Madison, an Interfaith Justice Organization in Madison. Perhaps there is no problem in having these two with the name MOSES.
