Skyrockers getting ready for year-end blowout
La Crosse’s fireworks experts, the Skyrockers, are banking on better weather for the last night of 2018 than they had last New Year’s Eve.
Skyrockers president Pat Bonadurer recalled that his group had to call off its traditional midnight fireworks display on top of Grandad Bluff last year, because the ground was too frozen for burying mortars.
As a result, the early 6 p.m. show became the main show.
Monday night, Bonadurer promises that both the 6 p.m. and midnight shows will be improved.
As for the weather, one forecast says temps around midnight on Jan. 31 should be about 20 degrees.
