Date for La Crosse County murder suspect’s trial could be determined next week

A La Crosse County murder suspect may find out, next week, when his trial could take place.

No date has been scheduled yet for the trial of Erik Sackett, who’s charged with killing his former girlfriend and trying to sink her body in a lake.

Sackett , pictured above back in August, has been in the La Crosse County jail since June, and his bond remains at $1 million.

Prosecutors say Sackett killed the woman to prevent her from falsely accusing him of rape and getting him sent back to prison.

Somvilai’s body was found in a Vernon County lake, tied to concrete blocks that were similar to blocks found at Sackett’s home.
