UW-L chancellor says Evers vs. legislature could mean ‘complicated’ budgets
Having a new governor in Madison could make state budget talks more difficult in the next few years.
The shift in power is being watched carefully by people like Chancellor Joe Gow at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
“The legislature is, for all intents and purposes, the same,” Gow said. “So, really, that would seem to suggest that things could be complicated because they will have to negotiate.”
Gow told faculty and university students at a campus forum Tuesday that Gov.-elect Tony Evers has a habit of speaking his mind.
Gow is optimistic about future funding for the UW System because Evers is wrapping up a term as a university regent.
