Project price bump will help street flooding near Cass Street reconstruction

A slight project cost increase comes with the promise of fewer flooding headaches for one neighborhood in La Crosse.

The Cass Street reconstruction project from Seventh Street to West Avenue has been approved for a cost increase of $13,987.06.

That money is for bigger storm sewer pipes than originally planned.

Engineers say the increased pipe size will help relieve flooding of nearby streets during heavy rains.

The entire project cost is roughly $1.2 million and includes, among other things, bumpouts to make crossing Cass safer. It should be complete by the time school starts in August.
