Police search for vandals who spray-painted horse in Fillmore County

Graffiti on buildings happens pretty regularly but not really as much on horses.

That, however, is what Fillmore County police are investigating now.

A man in the York Township, just north of the Iowa border, reported the vandalism after a sensor went off in his driveway late Thursday night. He went outside to check on things and found all sorts of graffiti spray painted on a building, his horse trailer and on his horse.

Vandals tagged his horse, which was also injured, although it’s unclear whether that injury was self-inflicted.

Some of the messages in the graffiti were vulgar and disparaging against veterans, others against women.

Police say the victim is an Air Force veteran. His U.S. flag flying in the yard was also stolen.
