Old historical society building could be possible La Crosse museum destination

The next step in trying to establish a new history museum in La Crosse will be to check out the building now used by the county historical society.

The museum planning task force will meet Thursday at the current historical society building on West Avenue.

Director Peggy Derrick has told the task force that the current building is too small for a museum, has only a few parking spaces, and has no ramps and elevators for the handicapped.

The historical society moved to West Avenue recently, after operating for many years out of the Main Street Library in La Crosse.

The task force is seeking possible locations around La Crosse for that proposed museum.
