A semi driver from Winona is accused of assault, for allegedly smashing into police cars during a 50-mile chase through southeast Minnesota.

Police tried to pull over the stolen semi in Winona early around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, 42-year-old Michael Kronebush, took off and was pursued through seven communities, including Rollingstone, St. Charles and finally he was stopped in Lewiston.

The truck backed into and otherwise rammed squad cars a couple of times, before police used stop sticks to stop him. Kronebush was then tazed.

The pursuit didn’t get into the ‘high-speed’ range, but did last nearly an hour and around 50 miles.

Kronebush is facing four charges in Winona County, including second degree assault with a dangerous weapon — the truck.
