At Riverfest is 2006, the Freight House was selling prime rib sandwiches.  Drugan’s Castle Mound had hamburgers and ‘chatwiches.’  Ciatti’s offered chicken cappellini and a chicken Caesar wrap.  And Features sold a cajun chicken sandwich, and Mississippi mud pie.  Tom and Roz Hundt were Commodore and First Mate for the 2006 Riverfest.

Wisconsin re-elected Democratic Governor Jim Doyle to a second term in 2006.  In November, Doyle won most of the counties on the western side of the state, while Republican Mark Green dominated in eastern Wisconsin.  Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker briefly ran for governor that year, but dropped out months before the primary.

UW-La Crosse was taking it all off with a Summerstage production of the musical “The Full Monty,” about unemployed steel workers putting on a strip show to raise money.  That was 11 years ago, 2006, yesterday in La Crosse.
