Republicans hold biggest majority in 60 years
Democratic lawmakers in Wisconsin aren’t content to lick their wounds.
Onalaska state rep. Steve Doyle says his party is strategizing to fight back against near historic Republican majorities in Madison, gained during last month’s elections.
Chief among the discussions at the Democratic Legislative caucus retreat Monday and Tuesday was figuring out how to reach out to voters in a different way, said Onalaska state rep. Steve Doyle.
“Our issues are the issues that the people agree with – supporting the middle class,” Doyle said. “We haven’t figured out the best way to present that to the people, where they understand.
“A big part of the problem is we haven’t been very good about messaging.”
After the elections, Republicans in the state assembly picked up their biggest majority in 60 years.
