Jill Stein calling for presidential-election recount in Wisconsin, Michigan and Penn.
Campaign still needs to hit funding goals to force Michigan recount
Wisconsin is at the center of what could still turn out to be a disrupting force in the just-concluded presidential election.
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has quickly raised millions of dollars to pay for recounts of vote totals in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania – the three rust-belt states that were seen as significantly underperforming for Hillary Clinton, whose lead in the popular vote has ballooned by over 2 million votes.
The Stein campaign says it has received what it’s calling “troubling” reports of voting irregularities and possible fraud and hacking in those states and will push for a recount based on those allegations.
Stein received just 1.1 percent of the vote in Wisconsin. Her campaign says she will ask for a recount in Wisconsin by today’s deadline, having met the goal of $1.1 million to do so, according to her website, where you can help donate to the cause.
Stein’s campaign has also met the $600,000 goal to force a recount in Pennsylvania by Monday.
The campaign still needs to raise $500,000 by Wednesday to force a Michigan recount. There, Trump recently took Michigan officially by 10,704 votes of the nearly 4.8 million cast, according to WSB Friday morning.
