Loads of questions surrounding Columbus ships docking in La Crosse didn’t seem to bother park board
Promoters didn’t show up to meeting,
board granted docking permission anyway
The La Crosse park board has a lot of questions for the promoters of the Christopher Columbus replica ships that are docking at Riverside Park for a week beginning Wednesday.
At a board meeting Thursday, attendees wanted to know if the promoters have insurance, a docking agreement or a permit to sell tickets and souvenirs?
Those questions, however, went unanswered as nobody representing the Pinta and Nina were present at the meeting.
The board was also concerned about high water on the Mississippi River that could prevent the ships from docking.
And, if the ships could dock, there’s also a scheduling conflict with the American Queen paddlewheeler.
Despite all those factors, the board still granted permission for the two ships to dock.
If this was 1492, Christopher Columbus would have maybe had an easier time getting to land.
