Also potential for other benefits

More new and rebuilt homes are popping up near La Crosse’s two hospitals.

Moving into those homes, many employees from those two hospitals – Gundersen Health System and Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare.

The two brand new homes on Tyler Street were featured during an open house Tuesday to show potential buyers what’s available.

“Gundersen’s program is one that pays out equal to the tax value of that property,” Gundersen’s Sarah Havens said, “so it’s a one-time payout for those individuals that purchase the property.”

The Gundersen incentive offers a payment of a year’s property taxes for some families who move into the Powell-Poage-Hamilton neighborhood.
