Never too early to think Christmas for Rotary Lights group
The food drive, Christmas display in
Riverside has been going on since ’95
It may still be the first week of October, but organizers of Rotary Lights in La Crosse are already counting down to the holiday season.
For the 21st year, the Christmas lights will be on display in Riverside Park, beginning the night after Thanksgiving.
Rotary Lights president Pat Stephens says volunteers work all year round to improve the quality of the displays. Rotary Lights is one of the largest food drives of the year in La Crosse.
Stephens hopes to collect 250,000 food items this year, which is about the usual amount. If that happens, the festival will have collected three million total packages of food since its start in 1995.
