Took seven days out of 10 days to find it

A Holmen woman is the official winner of the Oktoberfest medallion search this year.

Kim Hottenstein found the prize on Sunday under a pine tree, near Wittich Hall on the U-W-L campus.

Kim and Tim Britain have searched for several years but never found the medallion in the past.

Some of the early clues pointed to the 3-D mural on the Pump House wall.

Walter Wittich, whose name is on the old physical education building, is prominently featured in the mural.

This was the the second consecutive year it took seven days of clues to find the medallion. The fastest the medallion has been found was two days, and the longest it has taken is nine days.
