Guilty plea from hot dog-eating bank robber

A ‘guilty’ plea today from the man who admits to robbing the Community Credit Union in Onalaska last winter. Jonathan Smith of the Fond du Lac area could get up to 25 years in prison when he’s sentenced for robbery later this summer. In exchange for that guilty plea, a car theft charge is being dismissed, along with another theft charge from Trempealeau County. Smith falsely claimed to have a gun when he ordered a teller at the credit union to give him money. Smith abandoned the stolen truck he was driving, and police used a dog to track him down to Bridgeview Plaza, where they found him eating.
