Victory for Sparta-based Soldier

A soldier with a Sparta-based guard company has won big honors. Sergeant Cody Brueggen from Oconowoc is with the 107th maintenance company in Sparta. After a week-end competition, he’s been named the state’s non-commissioned officer of the year for the guard. Competition for the honor is three days of physical tests, marksmanship, navigation and much more at Fort McCoy. Winners go on to a regional competition also held at the fort and then, possibly, the national competition. Private first class Randy Fendryk from Waukesha won soldier of the year honors in the same competion at Fort McCoy.
