A project to update the intersection at East Main Street and Theater Road in Onalaska begins Monday morning.

The city and Wisconsin Department of Transportation are heading up the work.

It includes replacing the existing traffic signals with new ones that have a dedicated left turn arrow for northbound Theater Road traffic turning onto East Main Street.

Other work includes new pavement for about 550 feet of Theater Road and sidewalk ramp improvements.

The project, weather permitting, has August 15 as the completion date.

Until the new traffic signals are going, the intersection at East Main and Theater Road is controlled by four stop signs.

The city and DOT said that drivers may need to adjust their usual traffic patterns to get to any property or business while construction is underway.

Work continues on a roundabout installation also on Theater Road at the intersection with County PH. That project also has an August completion date.
