La Crosse’s Steppin’ Out In Pink wants to raise $500k in 20th year

The La Crosse area community set a record for donations at last year’s Steppin’ Out In Pink at $443,000.
The event that goes toward breast cancer research and support programs has a new goal of $500,000, according to Olivia Moths, Philanthropy Program Coordinator at Gundersen Medical Foundation.

Moths and Sarah Staff were in the WIZM studio this week to talk about all the ways Steppin’ Out In Pink helps and to keep encouraging people to register for the Sept. 13 event, that will feature vendors, music and, of course, the walk through Riverside Park, featuring breast cancer survivors.
Over 19 years, Steppin’ has raised $7 million — money that stays local, going toward things like the breast cancer research lab on the UW-La Crosse campus.
Friday is the early-bird deadline to get signed up and save $5. Moths says over 1,000 have already done so, while the all-time record is 6,500.
