Hottest weekend of the year for La Crosse, just before Monday’s downpour

La Crosse has just had its hottest weather of the year, during the first weekend of summer.

The National Weather Service says the city had highs above 90 degrees three days in a row, starting with a 91 on Friday. The warmest temperature so far in 2025 was a high of 97 on Saturday, followed by 96 on Sunday. For both those days, the average La Crosse temperature was 88 degrees.

Up until the heavy rain on Monday, La Crosse had received less than half of the normal amount of rainfall for June. Through Sunday, the monthly rainfall total was 1.5 inches, compared to the average 3.8 inches for the first 22 days of June.
