Fired UW-L chancellor Gow lawsuit set for June 2026

Former UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow’s lawsuit against the University and Board of Regents goes to trial in one year in federal court in Madison.
A document filed last month in Gow’s lawsuit by the judge in the case outlines the timetable of how the case proceeds.
The trial itself is set for June 22, 2026. The document said that eight people will sit on the jury to hear the case.
Gow is fighting for reinstatement as a professor in the classroom at the university, lost wages, and other damages. He contends that his dismissal violated his first amendment rights.
University officials stated that Gow’s actions in making adult videos and books embarrassed the La Crosse campus and the UW System. They also said his work involved an unauthorized use of university equipment.
He was removed as chancellor at UWL in December 2023. He had tenure as a professor but was fired from that position in September 2024.
The lawsuit was filed in January 2025.
Between now and next June, there are several deadlines imposed by the court regarding witnesses for both sides and filing documents related to the case.
The trial is expected to last five days.

Just go away Joe.
Your lack of integrity as an instructor has been proven.
All this time you said everything was about the students, well this is all about you and your lifestyle choices you made. No one is questioning your rights to make movies.
You broke your morals clause with the university.
Go make some more movie content and live happier ever after.
You're an Idiot

Him making adult content outside of work doesn’t constitute “lack of integrity,” nor does it violate any morals clause.

You must be a liberal. Nothing to see here.
Using university equipment outside the scope of education does.
Ask any corporation, GLMC, Mayo, City of La Crosse, Police Dept, Fire Department, Mayor’s Office, Boys & Girls Club done off the job or not still hurts the face to the institution.
