Badger band director guest conducting La Crosse Concert Band

The director of the UW Marching Band is coming to La Crosse this week to put his conducting skills on display.

Dr. Corey Pompey is the guest conductor for the Wednesday, June 25 performance of the La Crosse Concert Band.

They’ll perform at 7 p.m. at Riverside Park. The theme of the program is “Celebrating American Composers”.

Pompey is the Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at UW-Madison.

He took over in 2019 when legendary director Mike Leckrone retired.

The concert band and the American School Band Directors Association bring Dr. Pompey to La Crosse for the association’s regional conference this week. Band teachers from four states are visiting the city for the conference.
