The biggest project this summer is underway from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Highway 16 project.

It extends from La Crosse Street to South Kinney Coulee Road.

The project involves working on the two bridges over the La Crosse River, repaving all lanes, and installing signal upgrades at the Losey Boulevard intersection.

It is supposed to finish later this summer.

I wish someone in the industry could explain something to me. The thing I have never understood about these road construction projects is why so many projects are started at the same time. It seems multiple projects spreads resources/workers thin resulting in it taking much longer for projects to be completed. Would it not make more sense to focus on fewer projects at a time, get them done quickly, and then move on to the next projects instead of tying up multiple roads for the entire summer and fall season? Is there a legitimate reason or is this just government ineptly running that which could be done more efficiently by the private sector?
