TSA offering Pre-Check enrollment next month in La Crosse

Anyone interested in saving time when going through screening at airports in the US can sign up for the Transportation Security Agency’s (TSA) Pre-Check program next month in La Crosse.

An enrollment event runs from Tuesday-Friday, July 8-11 at the La Crosse Regional Airport.

Times are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. all four days.

The Pre-Check program lets people who qualify to get through the screening process much faster at more than 200 airports nationwide and airlines. 

American Airlines, which has flights in and out of La Crosse, is a participant in the TSA program. Delta and United are two other popular airlines that also in the program.

By signing up for TSA Pre-Check, travelers such things as leaving their shoes and belts on, keep laptops in their cases, and keep their food in their carry-on bag. Children and teens 17 and under can join an adult with TSA Pre-Check when TSA Pre-Check appears on the child’s boarding pass.  

Some of the work, such as applying online, can be done online prior to making the appointment.

To sign up, you will need to bring documentation with you. As of May, this includes a REAL ID, either a driver’s license or State ID. Another acceptable form of ID is a passport.

According to the airport, after all the appointments are filled, you still have the option of selecting “Walk-In”.

Once the process is complete, a TSA Pre-Check membership lasts for five years.
