Booth trial in La Crosse shooting set for early September

A September trial date has been set for Diontae Booth, who’s accused of shooting his former girlfriend last month.
Judge Scott Horne scheduled Booth’s trial for attempted homicide starting on September 8.

Trial dates in late July and September were discussed in court, before Booth agreed to have jury selection begin just after Labor Day, so he would have time to prepare. The trial is expected to last four days at the most.
Prosecutors say Booth shot the victim in the face on May 15 during an argument. He fled after the shooting. Two weeks later, he surrendered to police at a local hotel and was arrested.
Booth’s been jailed since that time.
