As I See It
The blatant hypocrisy of Republicans pushing Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill”

It’s funny how Republicans in Congress want it both ways.
The fight in Washington right now is how to make the One Big Beautiful Bill Act a deficit reducer, because that’s the banner the GOP is waving — at least these days.
A new report, however, from the Congressional Budget Office, shows the bill will actually add $2.8 trillion to the deficit over the next decade. That’s almost $400 billion worse than the initial estimate.
And what does the bill actually do?
It strips away safety nets from working-class people to hand tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.
It’s clear: the GOP’s priority isn’t reducing the deficit. It’s protecting the donors who fund their campaigns.
Where were the deficit hawks when we spent $45 million on a military-style birthday parade for the president?
Are they outraged that ICE is $1 billion over budget — as it sends masked agents in unmarked vans to detain anyone that looks a certain way?
If Republicans were serious about cutting the deficit, they’d raise taxes on the ultra-rich and corporations, and cut bloated defense spending — which they’ve increased by $113 billion, pushing it close to $1 trillion a year.
But hey, the bill does include tax breaks for tanning beds and subsidies for gun silencers — so at least somebody’s priorities are taken care of.
As I see it, I’m Rick Solem.

You sound more like Ivan Garcia every time you talk.
By, the way- When Trump talks about “Big Beautiful Bill”, he’s not talking about Garcia.

As incoherent and unimaginative as it is, replete with distortions, regurgitated Leftist talking points, and other assorted BS, I would bet good money Ivan Garcia actually did write this column and simply handed it to Solem.

Rick,
Roy is correct. William (or Ivan as many call him) Garcia is wearing off on you. Guess that happens when you interview him so often that you have lost many listeners who dislike his spin on the issues. What you (and sadly many conservatives) cannot see or acknowledge is that both political parties continue to spend the nation into oblivion. For the first time in over 35 years I had to support the Republican candidate last November because the alternative was oh so much worse. I knew that if I did that I would be supporting a candidate that has limited principles, But he was clearly lesser of two political evils. Yes, I was very disappointed, like Elon Musk, to learn the big beautiful bill will increase spending and add to the budget deficit. The political process these days is nothing more than the Red dynasty fighting against the Blue dynasty and freedom, liberty, and the financial solvency of the nation of the are caught in the crossfire.

Ankle biting at its best. The Democratic party had the White House for four years and provided no solutions and only created problems.
