La Crosse County continues to look for buyers who would like some county-owned property at West Salem.

This spring, a county committee called off the sale of more than 100 acres of land along Lake Neshonoc, which the Country Boom festival was interested in buying. County board chair Tina Tryggestad says the county will be taking suggestions for how to use the old county farm property.

“They can submit a request for information,” Tryggestad tells WIZM. “They can say, we would like to, I don’t know, build an igloo on three acres of this land, and here’s what we’ll give you for it.” Tryggestad says the county is waiting for a housing study and a market study, which are expected to be done by the end of this year.

The county board cancelled its second meeting of June, scheduled for Thursday night, because of a lack of new business to work on. The board’s next full meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 7th.
