What’s on tap for this weekend

There are plenty of activities happening in the area to make for a full weekend for people in our area.

They include music, art, fishing, and a couple of places to go for breakfast.

Here’s a look at some of the larger events taking place on Saturday and Sunday:


La Crosse County Dairy Breakfast

Head to the La Crosse Interstate Fairgrounds in West Salem to enjoy a big breakfast as part of June Dairy Month in Wisconsin.

Serving begins at 6 a.m. and goes until 11 a.m. Eggs, pancakes, sausages, cheese, yogurt, milk and more are on the menu.

Afterwards, families can check out the antique tractor exhibit, petting zoo, and let the kids take part in special activities just for them. There’s also a bounce house and a pedal pull competition.

The West Salem American Legion Honor Guard has a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m.

Tickets are $6 for 13 and over, $4 for kids 6-12, free for 5 and under.

Pre-sale tickets-save a dollar for an adult ticket through Friday at River Bank locations.


Vernon County Dairy Breakfast

This year, the Lepke Family Farm is hosting the annual Vernon County Dairy Breakfast.

The farm is located just outside Viroqua at S3839 US Hwy. 14.

Visitors can enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, cheese, milk, juice and coffee. A freewill donation is suggested.

A steak meal is available for an additional charge.

Kids activities are planned along with a petting zoo and kids pedal pull.

The breakfast runs from 7-11 a.m.

Celebrate the Mississippi!

The Upper Mississippi River Chapter of the Izaak Walton League has a family friendly event at Goose Island County Park from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Activities are centered around Shelter #3 in the park. Click here for a map.

There’re kids fishing, educational displays, a canoe and kayak paddle in the backwaters, interpretive walks, and more.

Recycle your electronics for free

Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations provides a free electronic recycling event at their facility on Brice Prairie.

It runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at N5550 Dynamic Way in Onalaska. Click here for a map.

The event is designed to let people dispose of a list of electronics, small kitchen appliances, and other household electronics safely and responsibly.

For example, they’re accepting items such as computers, monitors, printers, toasters, air fryers, Christmas lights, light fixtures, vacuum cleaners, leaf blowers, and shop vacs.

Artspire

Taking place in Riverside Park, Artspire brings together a wide variety of arts, artists, and experiences.

Artspire goes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dance and music are featured at the Riverside Bandshell with a diverse array of performers. Hmong, Native American Tribal dances from the Ho-Chunk Nation, Ometochtli Mexican Folk Dance, the La Crosse Confluence and other local musicians are among those taking the bandshell stage.

In addition, more than 70 regional artists display their works including pottery, jewelry, paintings, and photography.

For those feeling inspired, there’s also an interactive arts area where people can create their own works. This year, the Pump House presenting the Alebrijes Cultural Immersion Workshop with the Mexican Folk Art Collective. Workshops happen every 90 minutes.

Several food trucks are at the park offering a variety of foods, snacks, and beverages to enjoy while checking out the performances and vendors.

Stone Temple Pilots

Wrap up your Saturday with a trip to Maple Grove Venues outside West Salem to listen to the Stone Temple Pilots.

The show starts at 6:30 p.m. with special guests The Unlikely Candidates, followed by Black Stone Cherry, then the Stone Temple Pilots.

On-site parking is available. Maple Grove Venues has a shuttle bus that runs between Valley View Mall every half hour starting at 4:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The last bus returning to the mall leaves Maple Grove Venues at midnight. Parking at the mall is by area by Chuck E. Cheese.

Steamboat Days in Winona

Celebrating the river heritage, Steamboat Days runs in the downtown area around Levee Park through Sunday evening.

Music, games, rides, and a fireworks show Sunday evening are all on the list of activities happening at this year’s festival.

Saturday features a craft fair, 5K, and a car show.

On Sunday, highlights include the Grande Parade at noon and Fireworks and Drone Light Show Over the River at 9:45 p.m.
