Terry Bauer helps preview this summer’s Moon Tunes, which kicks off Thursday in La Crosse

Moon Tunes kicks off its 14th summer of free concerts in La Crosse’s Riverside Park on Thursday, and co-founder Terry Bauer is in the WIZM studio for La Crosse Talk discussing how all of this has come together.
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk wherever you get your podcasts.
Mae Simpson, an award-winning, seven-piece band out of Minneapolis, performing funk, soul and rock & roll is the season-opener. The concerts run 5:30-8 p.m.
Bauer highlights some of the bands headed to La Crosse this season, as seven of the 13 are new. We also discuss the renovated bandshell and what food trucks will be at the park.
There’s also a train for the kids to ride, they’re doing handicap parking with a shuttle from the Oktoberfest grounds and Smith’s Bicycle Shop is in charge of the bike corral — basically valet for bicyclists.
Moon Tunes started in 2011 as Noon Tunes, but three years in they moved it to the evening and that’s where it’s been the past 11 years. Check out the website here.

Buses to park? Might you use parking lots for parking then bus people to and from Riverside? Just a buck. Elderly with their chairs.
